President's Message
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Last Wed we had intended to play cards at the Hub but due to a change in circumstance our fearless card sharp was unable to attend at the last moment. These things happen to us all. However it was great to have member Anita back from her overseas holidays and at the last minute she stepped in and gave us a most enjoyable overview of Portugal and France. Most in atendence were salivating at the prospect. Thank you Anita for stepping in at such short notice and entertaining the group. I hope that at year end we will have had a full year of laughter, fellowship and enjoyment in each others company and together we will serve our community and together make small positive changes in our world. Certainly last Wed we got off to a great start and great fellowship and discussion was enjoyed by all present.
Last Friday we were able to provide frozen meals to the needy in our community . Thank you Heinz for overseeing this and again thanks to Les Sharpe for collecting the meals from Mt Evelyn IGA and delivering them to the Senior Cits at Wandin.
This year we will conduct committee and board meetings in an open and transparent manner and all members are both invited and encouraged to attend. Our first Board Meeting is this Wed July 10th at the Bendigo Bank Board room at 7.30pm.
The following Wed on July 17th at the Hub we will hold a cluster meeting with our DG Colin Byron in attendence. It will be interesting to hear how our new District 9815 will function. This should be a big night and rotarians from 8 other clubs will be present.
This year fellowship and friendship will be a focus and to this point we plan on having a "dinner out" every four weeks to which all members, partners, friends, ex members and indeed anyone who wants a good night out is invited. I am delighted that Tracey Henderson has agreed to oversee the arrangements for these nights and that the first one will be at the Wandin Pizza & Pasta on July 24th at 6.00pm. Spread the word.
Also on Tues 16th July Inner Wheel is holding their change over dinner(see separate announcement for details incl rsvp 9th July). On the same night Tues 16th July Romac has a function at Box Hill where we will see our funds at work(see last weeks Bulletin).
Well thats all from me,
Yours in Rotary and thanks for reading

ROMAC - June News
In 2023, Elina was referred to ROMAC and was offered treatment by Dr Leo Donnan, an orthopaedic surgeon at VicOrtho, Melbourne. Arriving in Melbourne with her Mum and Aunt in 2024, she began her treatment journey with a series of casts on her left foot.

On my retirement from Rotary after 44 years I find myself reflecting on two Rotarians that have supported me during difficult years of change in my life.
Dennis Holme who spoke encouragingly to me when after my stroke I seriously contemplated leaving, convinced I had nothing to offer. When speaking with Dennis he was not having any of my reasoning, placed me on his committee, built my confidence and I continued to enjoy Wandin Rotary membership for a further 7 years. THANK YOU, Dennis.
Brian Hodgson who always shakes me by the “right hand” not minding that it is now useless and when I was not coping emotionally it was, he that gave me strength and gestures of friendship on many occasions, I will never forget. THANK YOU
My time spent with Wandin Rotary friends, will always produce, nuggets of gold in my memory of “GOOD TIMES” and achieving together outstanding results.
