Wandin Pizza Bar
372 Warburton Highway, Wandin
This is a relaxed night of food, fun and fellowship. You do not need to reply, just come along.
We welcome all partners, friends of Rotary and anyone who would like an evening out.
No meeting Wed 31st July. Primary School Speech Competition Thursday 1 August.
Last Wed night saw the inaugral meeting of our group cluster. It was a spectacular night with some 52 Rotarians present from 8 different clubs and many commented on what a wonderful venue we were able to share with them. This was the first opportunity to meet and share with the other 8 clubs in our new Group 4 of District 9815. The atmosphere in the room was one of sharing and learning from others. The one minute summary from each club highlighted their major achievement and also the one major challenge. The meeting was then addressed by DG Colin Byron and he summarised how as clubs we need to change and adapt to what our communities need. Our new Group Co ordinator Gus Rozycki (previously known as our Assistant Govenor)gave a smart presentation on his role and how he can assist us especially in the area of technology and communication. The audio visuals worked well and the whole meeting was on Zoom for those not present, a first for our club. The meal was superb and our caterer Mick is to be thanked for his efforts. Roast turkey, plum pudding and bon bons on the table. Many thanks go to Brian Hodgson for his foresight in initiating this meeting. Everyone present was challenged in some of their traditional thinking and went away with lots of food for thought, particularly around the idea of clubs working together on different projects.
Well this Wednesday we have our first truely social occasion at the Wandin Pizza and Pasta. Everyone is welcome so please invite friends and neighbors, anyone who wants a good night out. The Board has offered and the recipients have accepted Honorary Membership to Les Sharp, Warwick Bisley and David Gamble. It is hoped to present them with their certificates a little later in the year when each can be present including their spouses.
Many thanks to Les Sharp who has continued the collection of the meals from Mt Evelyn IGA for distribution during Winter as part of the Free Meals Program. This is undertaken every Friday. Thanks Les.
