The dinner at The Chinaman has been postponed. As many of the members are attending the Mont De Lancey Trivia Night it was decided that The Chinaman night would attract small numbers.
Brian would like to conduct a brief Car Show meeting at his home strictly from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm that night. He will circulate an agenda.

Sweet Charity
Brian has booked 20 seats for a performance of Sweet Charity at the Karalyka on Friday 25 October for the Club, price $50. This will replace a fellowship night and he suggests we can arrange a pre-dinner meal. Bookings are needed by the end of this month confirmed by payment to Ray. The performance is by the Mountain District Musical Society who had an excellent run with Phantom a month ago.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Well, Hi there to all Rotarians and Friends,
I should be refreshed and raring to go after a few weeks on holidays but after a number of family health issues I feel somewhat jaded. But then I started to look at my emails and see a number from Rotary District and realise how lucky we really are. Last week was Homelessness Week and whilst at Wandin, we had a great speaker (that I missed) there are photos from Garry and a fab write up included. Also, down on the Mornington Peninsula the R C Rosebud has produced a quick video on the subject, I extend the offer to have a look here. https://www.mcsc.au/the-ranch It is worth 3 minutes of your time. Also included in this weeks' photos are three that I have received with regard to a child Elina that is currently in Melbourne from Vanuatu under the care and treatment of Romac. It is fantastic to see that the recent donation our club gave to ROMAC being put to actual use that improves the life of a child. Can there be anything better that we do ? This week we had an email from Paul Bailey the Principal at Wandin North Primary School. Be prepared to be blown away......"We have a had a student in Grade 5 who has been running a 3D printer made toys stall after assembly the last 2 weeks. His goal was to raise $150 and donate it to the Rotary Club of Wandin. He reached and exceeded his goal by raising $1006!"......This week Peter Johnson and I will visit the school and accept the donation. How community focused can you be ! Well thats enough from me , and I am glad to be home !

Peter and his partner Kim visited us last week. Peter explained 'JRN Community Housing is named in memory of my brother Joseph Refaat Nous. Joseph passed away in October 2016 at the age of 37. Joseph suffered severe mental illness and even though he tried so hard sometimes, he was judged by others and he chose to self medicate which was his biggest downfall in the end. We run our houses for all sorts of people, those who need a fresh start, a push in the right direction, homeless or just haven’t been able to find the right place before now. We have a good support network that we can get you in touch with depending on your needs. We understand how hard it is to get approved for a rental these days and like to give everyone a fair go. We have zero tolerance for drug use. We have multiple houses, apartments and share housing. if you’re using drugs, you can also contact us and we can point you in the right direction to get help and support and then put you into one of our temporary crisis sober houses. We also run community meals from our food truck and feed the homeless.'
Garry Byrne presented Peter with his fantastic apples. At the trivia night the Wandin Rotary team would have gained valuable points if only Garry had mentioned that the scientific name for apple is malus domestica.
