PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Oh wow, what a sensational night last Wed was. The celebration of our 40th birthday was absolutely fabulous. Proceedings commenced with a most generous toast by our local MP Bridget Vallence congratulating Wandin RC on its many achievements. Many thanks to Sue and Brian Hodgson and Tracey and Alan Henderson for decorating the tables and filling the room with yellow and blue Rotary balloons.  It was great to welcome so many visitors with over 50 people filling the room which resulted in a warm celebration. And the slide show so ably put together by Garry took us on a stroll down memory lane. It was heart warming to see so many pictures of members current and past over 40 years, all looked so much younger. Thanks also to Mick and his kitchen crew who provided a sumptuous meal and to Alan for providing the birthday cup cakes. Of course also in attendance were DG Ian Ballantyne and Assistant DG Shia Smart and thanks to them for not only responding to Rotary International toasts but also in conducting the Presidential Change Over ceremony from Alan to Paul with the passing of the collar and tartan waist coat and tie. It resulted in a wonderful celebration.

This next year will not be without its challenges but we have started in the right direction. The program for the next 12 months has been mapped out by Brian and social and fellowship will feature heavily. It is planned to have a social night out once every 4 weeks to which everyone is invited both members and partners, past members, and indeed anyone who wants to share good company, good food and some social interaction.

Romac has always been a program heavily supported by our club and Gavan and Dianne McIntyre are district committee members. Wandin recently donated $5000 to this most worthy cause which supports medical treatment of overseas children. Coming up is an opportunity to see Romac in action.  A special ROMAC presentation at the Rotary Club of MontAlbert Surrey Hills Tuesday 16th July at Box Hill Institute 6.45pm. ROMAC in action - current patient, 4 yr old Elina from Vanuatu will be present. She is being treated for a club foot. Southern Region chair Minh Nguyen will be giving an update on all things ROMAC.

This Wed we play cards, a game called Whist. Google it. Everyone is welcome. Yours in Rotary and thanks for reading.
