President's Message
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Last week we had Remembrance Day and a great deal of effort and organisation went into pulling it all together. Thank you Tim Manders for taking it on and to Brian Hodgson for being the MC. On Wed night we had a Board Meeting and a number of issues were discussed. It is with great pleasure I am able to confirm the membership of our latest inductee Jeanette Jensen. Welcome Jeanette. It was also confirmed that for the foreseable future when meeting at the Hub, drinks will be BYO. Peter Johnson will put together a small esky of water & wine for visitors & guests. It was also confirmed that we need more gifts for guest speakers and we will purchase a set of Rotary Mugs for this purpose. Last night I attended the inaugural AGM of our District 9815 where the financial reports of the district were presented and discussed. The District is in a healthy financial position.
Well this week the Car Show arrives. What with all the planning and hard work and organisation done, the weather looks like a pleasant balmy 20 degrees and now its time to enjoy the experience.
Yours in Rotary
Paul Martin

Because of the risks associated with pedestrian movement across the Wandin East intersection we have decided to close the previous parking area on Parker Road. Show car entry has not changed.
Adequate spectator parking is now provided inside the reserve. Entry is via the second gate east of the show car entry. Spectators are to be encouraged to use this parking area and avoid parking in adjoining streets.
CAR SHOWFLASHBACKS
January 2019 car show had this vehicle on display. There were only 51 Tucker’s ever built in the 1940s and 49 still remain but mainly in museums. This one was bought along to the car show from the private Trydell Museum in Pakenham and is valued at more than $1mil. There was a movie ‘Tucker’ about the life of Preston Tucker who was bankrupted by the major USA motor companies who didn’t like his advanced design which they couldn’t match. Amazing that the car was driven on the road from the museum to the car show.
ROMAC NEWS!
Our patient Serah has finally been issued with a passport!!! The next step is to get a visa. This is not easy. It requires Serah and her mother to travel from their remote village to the port town on their island. Then they need to catch the ferry to Port Vila to have biometrics taken to apply for a visa. This can only be done at one place with restricted opening times and will require an overnight stay. This process seems ridiculous for ROMAC patients, and we are trying to get it changed.
OUR Australian doctors performed this miracle.
HAGGAI has now returned home, and Nelson has arrived, hoping for a similar miracle.
