PRESIDENT’S
A very concise and informative presentation by Sarah Wilson from Interchange Outer East last Wed night in front of 16 members and 3 guests. The meeting was chaired by Peter and the vote of thanks given by Ben who has a special working interest in this area of the NDIS. Sarah highlighted how her group is a non profit that provides disability support services particularly focusing on Families and how they can best support the whole family particularly the parents and siblings and provide a holistic family focus by concentrating on trust and fun.

Again a huge thanks must go to Jeanette, for cooking and serving up a delicious meal. And whilst thanking people, a huge thanks goes to Alan who took over the Presidents role whilst I was away for the past 7 weeks. Thanks, Alan.

This week 14th of May we have a Board Meeting at the Bendigo Bank Board room commencing at 7.30pm

All members will have received correspondence from District in regards to District Assembly which is a perfect opportunity to learn a little more about your role within Rotary in the specific area of Service above Self. It occurs online on the weekends of 17th and 24th May.

We have had notification from Romac that the patient that our club has agreed to host, Serah Bursaie from Vanuatu who is a 14yo suffering with a soft swelling in her left knee has received visas for herself &  sister to come to Melb for medical treatment . This is likely to occur in the next three months, and her treatment is most likely to be at St Vincents Private Hospital in Melb. We now need a number of Rotary members to agree to host Serah & her sister for a few days, and to assist in transport to and from her medical appointments. Please consider this request, as it is truely life changing for the recipient.

The Shire of YR has a volunteer expo at the Lilydale Civic Centre on Sunday 1st June that all the Rotary Clubs in the shire have been asked to participate in. More information to follow. Next Saturday the 17th May there will be a sausage sizzle and wood raffle at Woolworths in Seville. Please let Peter know thay you can help.

Well thats it from me, Yours in Rotary , Paul.

Because of the risks associated with pedestrian movement across the Wandin East intersection we have decided to close the previous parking area on Parker Road.  Show car entry has not changed.

Adequate spectator parking is now provided inside the reserve.  Entry is via the second gate east of the show car entry.  Spectators are to be encouraged to use this parking area and avoid parking in adjoining streets.

CAR SHOW FLASHBACKS

January 2019 car show had this vehicle on display. There were only 51 Tucker’s ever built in the 1940s and 49 still remain but mainly in museums.  This one was bought along to the car show from the private Trydell Museum in Pakenham and is valued at more than $1mil. There was a movie ‘Tucker’ about the life of Preston Tucker who was bankrupted by the major USA motor companies who didn’t like his advanced design which they couldn’t match. Amazing that the car was driven on the road from the museum to the car show.

ROMAC NEWS!

Our patient Serah has finally been issued with a passport!!! The next step is to get a visa. This is not easy. It requires Serah and her mother to travel from their remote village to the port town on their island. Then they need to catch the ferry to Port Vila to have biometrics taken to apply for a visa. This can only be done at one place with restricted opening times and will require an overnight stay. This process seems ridiculous for ROMAC patients, and we are trying to get it changed.

OUR Australian doctors performed this miracle.
HAGGAI has now returned home, and Nelson has arrived, hoping for a similar miracle.
