President's Message
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Well the Wandin Rotary Custom Car & Bike Show is over for another year, and what an outstanding success its been. With another balmy night last Wed, there was a good well behaved crowd that thoroughly enjoyed the event that was put on. The Wandin CFA ran out of hamburgers which is always an excellent indication of crowd attendance. Whilst the official figures are not available as yet, the fundraising over the whole of the four events is remarkably close to last years events and will result in a similar contribution to the Royal Childrens Hospital as last year of $20,000. How proud everyone of the many helpers should be. And what a great result for Brian Hodgson after the many sleepless nights he had worrying about every little aspect of the event but in particular about the traffic control which has unfortunately seen the costs of providing such, blow out exponentially from some $4000 in 2024 to around $10,500 this year. The overall result of the Car Show clearly underpins the whole of the club's financial activities for the year. This as well as the many other organisations who benefit from the event including the Wandin CFA, the Seville CFA and Inner Wheel mean that the event has to continue.
This week sees us return to the Hub for a regular meeting where we will hear from Jeanette as Rotarian Behind the Badge. Again the catering will be by Peas in a Pod, so please let Ray know numbers.
Well that's all from me for a while, as I am headed overseas for the next 6 weeks. Whilst away, I would like to thank Vice Prez Alan Henderson for taking the reins back.
