President's Message
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Welcome to 2025 and our first Bulletin for the year. I hope you have had a relaxing Christmas and New Year with family. This week is our first meeting for the year and will be held at the Hub at 6.00 for 6.30 as usual. We have a planning meeting for Austrailia Day Sunday breakfast. Dinner will be Pizzas and remember BYO drinks. We have a renowned speaker for our Aust Day breakfast who during last year appeared on Australia Story on the ABC. Watch his story on iView. He is Professor Arnold Dix who was responsible for rescuing the 41 miners from the mine collapse in the Himalayas in Nov 2023. It is timely to remind all Rotarians and visitors that if you want a seat in the breakfast hall at the Hub you must book a seat. Tickets are available on trybooking Rotary Club of Wandin Australia Day Breakfast | Please book now. There are approx 40 seats left currently.
The following day on Monday Jan 27th, we have the Family Fun Day which will involve lots of different community groups and is sponsored by the Bendigo Bank.
But before either of these events on Wed Jan 22nd we have a social meeting at the Hop Hen brewery in Lilydale at 6.00pm with a tour and dinner and of course refreshments.
In news before Christmas I commented on the destruction of the East Wandin cricket pitch which we had purchased, by vandalism. In better news I can report that the pitch will be repaired and replaced by Council, hopefully the sooner the better.
In this bulletin I have attached an article on End Polio and the update on the current status and the difficulties in eradicating Polio from Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is worth noting that we are one of the 16 clubs in our District that has donated to this Rotary Project.
Well thats all from me, see you on Wed,
President Paul.
