This week I wanted to write about our new cluster group. Previously when part of District 9810 we would have an assistant DG and more recently we were frequently visited by ADG Shia Smart. Well, we now are in a new District of Rotary, 9815 and we have Cluster groups, ours aptly named Friends of the Hills & Beyond. Our Rotary Community Leader is Gus Rozycki (RCL.) In our Cluster of 13clubs Bayswater, Belgrave, Boronia, Bunyip, Emerald, Ferntree Gully, Healesville, Koo Wee Rup, Lilydale, Monbulk, Pakenham, Upper Yarra and ourselves.

 

The theme of District Conference in Bendigo in March is We Belong cos We are Better Together. This is a reoccurring theme, especially in our Cluster, as we look to join with other clubs to achieve better outcomes. To this purpose, a few of our members joined Lilydale RC last week to hear an excellent presentation on Romac. I encourage each member to look at visiting another Rotary Club.

 

Certainly, the photos this week from Garry tell a great story. Namely the presentation last week by Jake & his family. How great was that, and he presented us with a cheque from his 3D printing for $1016 which we will use for two separate projects. And also, the Community Sausage Give Away and Wood Raffle at Seville Woolworths on Saturday where Sausages in bread were given away to the passing shoppers as well as free tickets (3 for free) to a raffle for a trailer load of firewood. Shoppers generously gave donations to the club which totaled close to $500. The club would like to thank Seville butchers for supplying the sausages at half price and Seville Woolworths for donating bread, onions and sauces.
