Hi All,

Last week we hosted the first of what hopefully will become a regular occurrence, the Wandin Rotary Bingo Night.

A great turn out of punters from the local and surrounding communities.

The night was a great success, with many winners and grinners.

Thank you to Alan & Tracey Henderson for the inspiration for the event, Brian for his organisation, Bailey on the microphone, Gus Rozycki and everyone else who played a part in the night’s success.

On a more sombre note, recently we lost a past Rotarian, Charter Member Ron Neilson.

Ron was the club president 1993-94 and worked as an Insurance Loss Assessor. During the 80’s & 90’s Ron was also heavily involved in running of Bingo as the main number caller. Ron passed away on the 13th of September 2026.

This week we have our monthly board meeting at the Bendigo Bank board room.

As we have just started daylight savings, remember it’s a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms.

Help Cambodia Fundraising Evening

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Wandin for supporting the Help Cambodia Bingo Fundraiser.

Special thanks to Gus for his time and expertise in the smooth running of the evening.

Bailey did an excellent job as the ‘maestro’ of the evening and thanks to
Martha and Nicky for help with the room setup and selling the raffle tickets.

With a lot of newbies to Bingo, the first few games were good practice to get everyone in the groove.

Due to the pace of the night, realising to turn the page to the next game before chatting became evident.

Countdown from Bailey and we’re off again.

Thank you to all Rotarians, with support from other clubs in the cluster, and to all the friends who came to support the night.

We would also like to thank the many donors who generously supplied us with raffle prizes.

Brian and Sue Hodgson and Alan and Tracey Henderson will head to Cambodia Nov 2 - 12 on the service project.

The organisations we will be volunteering with are help Cambodia and Heartprint.

In groups, we will organise activities both in and outdoors, to enjoy with the children. We visit Dunny Darrel, Australian founder of the Cambodia Clean Water & Toilet Project and volunteer at Lunches with Love with a visit to the Elderly care Mother House project.

We would love to share a presentation on the trip with you on our return.

ROMAC News (Sunday 27/09/2026)

John Nauka - Surgery at St Vincents Private Hospital
Last Monday, John had surgery to correct his club foot.

We are very grateful to our past Wandin Rotarian, Warwick Bisley, for visiting John twice, during the brief hospitalisation.

In Monday, home to host family at Yarrambat on Wednesday. Warwick lives very close to St V’s, but we are grateful for him taking the time to visit.

Due to strict security in the Childrens ward, no photos of the children are allowed.

John will have the cast removed and a new one applied, on Monday this week.

John and Mary in the Childrens Ward at St Vincents Private with the wonderful nurses.

Today John has had a larger cast put on his leg, which goes higher up his leg. A wheelchair with leg extension has been ordered, which will make life easier for all concerned.
