PRESIDENTS REPORT

Last Wednesday, we had the October Board Meeting at the Bendigo Bank Board Room.

A major point of discussion was our club meetings at the Wandin Community Hub. A long-standing issue for our club has been catering of meals and we have been fortunate that Jeanette has done a great job in this area over recent months. She is more than happy to prepare the meals going forward, but needs help with cleaning wash up  etc. To this end, the club will pay a helper to do these tasks. The board also decided that only a main meal will be served, without sweets to follow. Our thanks again to Jeanette for doing an excellent job.

The board is also keen to get back to a more structured format for our meetings, particularly with a chairperson being nominated in the bulletin, prior to our Wednesday meeting.

Other points of discussion were the plans for Remembrance Day, The Wandin Family Fun Day to be held on Australia Day in conjunction with the football and cricket clubs, as well as Wandin and Seville CFA.

Anita presented a proposal, via a suggestion from Max, to present Vocational Services Awards to deserving members of the community. This was agreed to by the Board and nomination forms will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Jeanette and I attended the Woori Yallock school assembly last Friday and Jeanette presented the winner of Wandin Rotary’s Primary School Speech Contest, Dixi Shaak-Taylor with her winning trophy. The school was also presented with the Perpetual Shield. Dixi has been invited to compete in the District Final in late November against 13 other contestants.

This week we will meet at the hub and our guests are Violinist Ariel and Wood Carver Shlomit.

Yours in Rotary

President Peter
