PRESIDENTS REPORT
Hello Everyone,
Last Wednesday, we had a meeting at the hub, and the theme of
the night was connecting with the arts in the Yarra Valley.
Our first Guest was Arielle, a very talented violinist who played a wonderful
piece of classical music. Arielle is 16 years old and spoke about her
pathway into learning, growing and mastering the art of playing
music on her beloved violin. She gave us an insight to her journey
of being taught by her teachers and finally finding a teacher who
took her to the next level in her artistic pursuits.
Our second guest was Shlomit, a local artisan wood carver who told
her story of working with wood to create beautiful sculptures of
numerous subjects. She spoke of her exhibitions, commissions and
her love for creating everlasting sculptures in parks and gardens
here in the Yarra Valley, throughout Victoria, Australia wide and
some overseas projects,
Annie was our third guest speaker, a local artisan who creates
amongst other things, amazing hats using second hand purchases
and decorating them with recycled materials and objects. She is
passionate about educating people about the intrinsic value of using
recycled materials and fabrics to make the world a better place.
The club meeting was a great night of learning, caring and sharing.
Garry’s photos show that Rotary is fun, especially when you keep
your hat on!! Again, thanks to Jeanette for a great meal and her
commitment to providing a memorable evening.
Friday the 24 th of October is World Polio Day and is a time for
Rotary members, public health advocates and all who want a world
free from polio to come together, recognise our progress in the fight
to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take to end polio
for good.
Next Wednesday, it’s back to a local favourite in Wandin, the
Chinaman. As usual, text Tim regarding your attendance on
Monday.
