President's Message
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Last Wed we had a most entertaining night of friendship and fellowship at the home of Cliff & Sylvia Riseborough where Cliff demonstrated his model railways and the source of much pride in a hobby long pursued. Amazing, all the trains ran on time and there was no overcrowding even at peak hour. A giant thanks to Gavan for organising and cooking the barbecue, and the Sylvia for salads and desserts. On Monday 11th at 11.00am we have our annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Wandin War Memorial and this will be well attended by numerous school children. This Wed night we have our Board Meeting at the Bendigo Bank boardroom at 7.00pm for dinner followed by the meeting at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
The theme of District Conference in Bendigo in March is We Belong cos We are Better Together. This is a reoccurring theme, especially in our Cluster, as we look to join with other clubs to achieve better outcomes. I encourage each member to look at visiting another Rotary Club to see how others are sharing Rotary.
Next week we have the Car Show, on Wed 20th Nov and there have been some recent negative comments on Facebook. Unfortunately it is easy to throw mud and abuse from the anominity of a keyboard. However, Vic Roads and planning permits have made the costs associated with Traffic Control unbearable for our Club and as the event is a Fundraiser we have had to adapt. So this first event will be a memorable occasion for many different reasons, but lets all be positive and turn it into a great day out.
Yours in Rotary
Paul Martin
