President's Message
It was a great night last Wednesday and thank you to everyone that came to our 41st changeover dinner. It was good to back for a meeting at Mont De Lancey, after being away from there for several years. Thanks to Bridget Vallence MP for her kind words about the Rotary club of Wandin and the toast to the King and Australia. The evening was perfectly hosted by Gavan, complete with a humorous story regarding the harvesting and cooking of wild mushrooms, a very topical issue currently. Thanks to Ben with an inspirational speech and toast to Rotary International. It was good to see some former Wandin Rotary members in attendance, Des and Judith from Lilydale Rotary, Anne and Val from Inner Wheel and other guests and partners. Thanks to our longest serving Rotary member Max McWilliam, for conducting the Presidential Change Over ceremony from Paul to Peter with the passing of the collar and tartan waist coat and tie. It resulted in a wonderful celebration.
We have our first meeting next Wednesday, and due to a special request from the Wandin CFA there will be a change of venue. The fire brigades in our region are holding a special training / meeting and will be using the Hub for this occasion as they have a large number of participants and need a bigger venue. They have apologised for the late notice and are grateful for us relocating our meeting. Subsequently, we will be meeting at the Wandin CFA at 6pm for a 6.30 start. Jeanette will again be providing the catering, and we need to help her on the night. She will also be doing a presentation on establishing a satellite club (or 2). Don’t forget to BYO drinks.
Please let Tim know of your attendance and that of guests / partners.
Thank you all again to everyone that have offered me words of support and looking forward to serving as your President in the coming year.
