Presidents Message:
This week we have the Car Show, so it's all hands-on deck plus any extra helpers would be appreciated. Here's hoping the weather is kind to all. Last week we had the vocational visit to Evelyn Ridge organised by Anita which was very well attended and most informative. Thank you, Anita. Also, last Wed night we had a Board Meeting, and a number of important matters were canvassed. Of interest to all members will be the discussion that took place around meals. Whilst the football club is in discussions with installing a new caterer, we are going to for the next two months adopt a week by week mix of using the caterers from Mont Delancey and our local Wandin Pizza & Pasta Bar. There will be plenty of variety. Thanks to Jeanette for taking this project on. The Board also affirmed the appointment of Tim Manders as Community Chair. Thanks, Tim, for stepping up.
David Gamble one of our honorary members and long-standing Rotarians lost his wife Judy to Lewey Body Dementia. His granddaughter Alana is running a marathon in March to raise much needed funds for research into this Disease. The Club has donated $500 towards Alana's goal.
Good governance is important in any club and after a gap of a few years the Board has instigated an audit of the Club's Finances and Financial statements.
It was also decided at the Board Meeting that the club should research and instigate the formation of a new satellite club particularly aimed at younger members of the community. We all realise that the Rotary Club of Wandin has a proud record of achievement over the past 40 years and if it is to continue then the next generation needs to become actively involved in Community Service and the other aspects of Rotary that strive to do good in this world. If you know a potential interested person, please contact me.
The funeral of Mick Dawson is to be held on Mon 17th Feb at the Lilydale Memorial Chapel at 1.45 followed by a wake at The Hub R.I.P.
Well, that's all from me, and hoping to see everyone on Wed at the Car Show
Yours in Rotary, Paul
