JRN Community Housing
Aug 21, 2024 6:00 pm
JRN Community Housing is named in memory of my brother Joseph Refaat Nous. Joseph passed away in October 2016 at the age of 37. Joseph suffered severe mental illness and even though he tried so hard sometimes, he was judged by others and he chose to self medicate which was his biggest downfall in the end. We run our houses for all sorts of people, those who need a fresh start, a push in the right direction, homeless or just haven’t been able to find the right place before now. We have a good support network that we can get you in touch with depending on your needs. We understand how hard it is to get approved for a rental these days and like to give everyone a fair go. We have zero tolerance for drug use. We have multiple houses, apartments and share housing. if you’re using drugs, you can also contact us and we can point you in the right direction to get help and support and then put you into one of our temporary crisis sober houses. We also run community meals from our food truck and feed the homeless. |

Providing personal support in Bali since Covid-19
Oct 02, 2024
Initially, Helen moved to Bali to live and volunteer with a foundation that supports young people to gain knowledge and work in the tourism industry this was open to youth from poorer backgrounds. In 2020 that direction changed dramatically due to COVID-19. In Bali, with no tourism, and no social support/ money or funds for many Balinese families, with so many employed in tourism in some way, support was needed. Over the COVID period, she started a small charity to help support her local community, it was funded by myself, and as time went on friends and family started to support me. Helen now supports many villages in North Bali where she lived in Lovina Singaraja with food relief parcels, bedding, mattresses, basic kitchen needs, and at times medical help. Currenly she has focussed on water, something in Australia we take for granted. We go to the tap and we can drink it, but not so for Bali, you cannot drink the water. Even bottled water isn’t great. Water filters cost approx. $40 each and provide 99.999 percent clean water to drink. It does not have to be boiled once filtered. |
